Who we are
Code REDD is an an innovative not-for-profit based in the San Francisco Bay Area whose mission is to empower marginalized communities, preserve forests, and protect endangered wildlife - all while reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. We work to achieve this mission by scaling and supporting high-impact forest and biodiversity conservation programs designed using the United Nations’ mechanism to Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+). Wildlife Works Carbon / Kasigau Corridor, Kenya
The Kasigau Corridor REDD+ project is the first ever to be issued Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs) for REDD+ under the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS), the most widely used carbon accounting standard among projects issuing credits in the voluntary market. -
Metareilá Association / Suruí Forest, Amazon
The Suruí Forest Carbon Project is an initiative led by the Metareilá Association, which works to defend and preserve the autonomy and the cultural and territorial heritage of the Suruí people: a tribe of roughly 1,300 members, who were first contacted less than 50 years ago.
